Frequently Asked Questions about YMCA Personal Training

What is the process for getting personal training sessions?

We start with a 30-minute consultation. Visit us at the membership desk or fill out the form online on our website to send through an enquiry. Give your availability to train and we can then pair you up with a trainer.

What does the consultation involve?

This is a complimentary sit-down session with one of our trainers. It generally involves some questions relating to your lifestyle and goals and gives you a broader idea of whether one-on-one training is something that would suit you.

What are the prices for personal training?

5 pack of sessions - $350 ($70 per session)

10 pack of sessions - $650 ($65 per session)

15 pack of sessions - $900 ($60 per session)

Why have the package sizes changed?

The new model rewards our long-term, repeat clients. Rather than put on discounts once or twice a year and clients load up with a discount, this provides the opportunity for consistency in training and gives both the client and the Y a better opportunity to plan for future months of training.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes, if you are a regular long-term client, you have the opportunity for a discount. If you purchase a 15 pack of sessions before your current 15 pack expires, you receive one free session (a 16th session).

How should I contact my trainer?

Email is the best way to contact your trainer once you have completed your consultation, arranged your first training, and paid for your sessions.

What if I need to reschedule a session?

Make sure you re-schedule more than 24 hours before your booked session as per the cancellation policy. You can then work with your trainer to find a date that works best.

If I am not sure if training is for me, what are my options?

There is no obligation to purchase a package once you have a consultation. The Y offers free workouts online through our Y-Thrive and Y-Home platforms that you can use as an alternative.

Can I get a refund on a YMCA personal training package I have purchased?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds.

Is there an expiry on my package?

Yes, all sessions expire six months from the date of purchase.
