Construction Updates on the Bettie Allard YMCA on December 7, 2022
The Bettie Allard YMCA has been full of activity over the past month with construction taking place in some isolated areas within the facility, the arrival and installation of more equipment, and the final polish being put on some spaces that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come. Below are some recent images of our strength and conditioning areas, and the gymnasium and walking track.
We know these spaces will be favourite spots for our future members, but don't take our word for it—the time has come for you, your family and your friends to see the Bettie Allard YMCA!
Tours of the facility are now available Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can learn more at BettieAllardYMCA.ca.
Our members will love taking our Cycle Studio for a spin.
The Bettie Allard YMCA has equipment for all fitness levels and includes equipment for those who have mobility challenges.
Strengthen your muscle with our new, high-quality exercise weights.
Future members will be able to enjoy the 100-metre walking track and keep track of all the action taking place in the gymnasium.
Construction Updates on the Bettie Allard YMCA on October 28, 2022
Every day, we are getting closer and closer to completing the construction of the Bettie Allard YMCA. Since our last update, there has been a lot of progress and we are excited to share with you the following photos taken earlier this week.
The Bettie Allard YMCA has lots of great spaces filled with natural light. Here is a photo of the stairwell leading up to the fitness floor.
Our fitness area is coming together nicely and is the perfect home for our brand-new equipment.
Our basketball gym is (almost) ready for you to come and shoot some hoops. We can’t wait to have you!
Our aquatics area is coming together beautifully. We look forward to seeing our members make a splash in our pool and relax in our hot tubs. Information regarding our swim lessons will be coming soon.
Located above the gymnasium, our walking track is the perfect spot to get your steps in and enjoy all the action happening on the court.
One of the many unique features of the Bettie Allard YMCA is our green roofs, which have a layer of plant material that absorbs water like a sponge. They capture water when it rains, slowly releasing it through evaporation and plant use. Green roofs can significantly reduce the amount of rainwater that would otherwise run off an impervious roof surface—how cool is that?
First Sneak Peek at the Bettie Allard YMCA
As we have progressed through the summer, extensive work has been completed on the Bettie Allard YMCA, bringing us that much closer to opening our new centre of community serving the Tri-Cities and Burquitlam communities.
Significant milestones were reached in the facility’s build-out in recent months, including the completion of the gymnasium floor and running-track surface, waterproofing, and tiling of the pool area. Many fixtures have been installed, with more to come, and fitness equipment is starting to arrive on site and will be installed soon.
Some further finishing touches are to come in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, here are some photos of the facility taken during a site tour that took place earlier this month. As you can see, the build is coming together nicely and we can’t wait to welcome you to the Bettie Allard YMCA!
